Intermodal transportation

NWIC’s introduction of new intermodal connections is a response to the need and the worldwide trend for environmentally and energy-supportive solutions in times of environmental and energy crisis.
It also supports the pro-environmental measures and directives of European governments.

Permanent intermodal connection

To meet the market’s new needs, New Wave International Cargo is offering Polish and Dutch customers a new environmentally friendly intermodal transport service – a fixed connection combining road and rail freight on the Poland-Dutch route. Soon we will be able to offer more cyclical intermodal connections using a combination of rail, road and sea freight to other destinations around the world.

Ecology in transportation

Environmental protection is becoming a popular topic, and more companies are looking for green solutions in their industry. European Union countries have pledged to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, and by 2023 the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions should be 55% of 1990 levels. So no one is surprised that everyone is already trying to implement green solutions. Reducing the carbon footprint fits perfectly with the new trend of responsible business. We, too, are noticing that contractors are increasingly choosing solutions that reduce their carbon footprint in their operations. The launch of the intermodal service expresses NWIC’s responsibility for the quality of European and American transportation. Due to its geographic location, Poland is strategically important on the trade route connecting Scandinavia and Southern Europe in terms of environmentally friendly solutions that are just sprouting in Europe. In the U.S., intermodal transportation has been used for more than a dozen years, eagerly combining several modes of transport.

The advantage of rail transport in the intermodal supply chain

It is worth recalling that rail, by its nature, is characterized by negligible CO² production. Compared to forwarding carried out solely by car, those using rail transport reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90%. Rail forwarding also significantly reduces heavy vehicle traffic on roads and border crossings, serving the environment. Trains use far less energy to transport goods than internal combustion vehicles, which translates into the transportation service’s final cost. Above that, intermodal rail transport is distinguished by greater regularity and punctuality due to its better resistance to weather conditions and lower accident rates. In addition, intermodal transport is also an answer to the problem of driver shortage and continuous increases in fuel prices.

Permanent Poland-Dutch door-to-door connection

New intermodal connections Poland-Holland are implemented in a convenient door-to-door option. Containers with goods are collected from customers by road transport, then transported to rail loading, and after the journey is completed, they are picked up and delivered by trucks directly to their destinations. The service uses 40 HC containers, which can be easily interchanged with different modes of transport without repacking the goods they contain. This promotes speed of delivery.

By working with NWIC, you are betting on reliability, timeliness and safety during transportation. We take an individual approach to each order, so we minimize the possibility of unexpected situations and avoid many problems, and when they occur, we quickly solve them.
